"Bug City" is a video series created to help children (grades 1-6) learn about insects and other small critters. All aspects of bug life are touched upon, including body structure, food, habitat, life cycle, mating habits, camouflage, mutualism (symbiosis), adaptations, social behavior, and more. Each program features dramatic microscopic photography and fun commentary and bug facts. The topic of this lesson is flies and mosquitoes and contains information on the anatomy, life cycle, and life style of flies. A demonstration of how to build a fruit fly trap and raise fruit flies is also given. The teaching guide, which is included with the videos, may be downloaded from the Internet. (WRM)
