The revised Iowa Developed Energy Activity Sampler (IDEAS) was compiled using the original IDEAS program and the Energy Conservation Activity Packets (ECAPS). This document was developed to provide home economics teachers with background information on energy, and activities that can be used/adapted with a minimum of preparation time. The activities are divided into sections on family and personal development, foods, child development, clothing and textiles, and housing and interior design. Each activity includes: (1) the subject area for which the activity was written; (2) the grade level; (3) a brief descriptive statement about the activity itself; (4) the objective(s); (5) a list of materials needed; (6) the approximate amount of time needed for the activity; (7) a more complete description of the activity; including the various components of the activity and their relationship to Piaget's learning cycle (awareness, concept development, application); and (8) some follow-up/background material. The focal points of the document are energy concerns, impacts, choices, challenges, and conservation. (TW)
