It is imperative that teacher preparation programs expose pre-service instructors to the field of teaching prior to formal employment. This article describes the California Mini-Corps teacher preparation program. California Mini-Corps is embedded within twenty five higher education institutions in California. This project focuses on the development of a well prepared, ethnically diverse and culturally sensitive teacher force. Data on the influence mini-corps pre-service teachers have on the academic progress of migrant students is reported at a local and statewide level. (Contains 2 tables and 1 figure.)
