This guide is intended to assist vocational educators in teaching a three-unit module in metallurgy and heat treating. The module is part of a welding curriculum that has been designed to be totally integrated with Missouri's Vocational Instruction Management System. The basic principles of metallurgy and heat treatment and techniques for identifying and working with metals are covered in the module. The materials included in the module have been formatted for competency-based teaching and testing. All information sheets, transparency masters, job sheets, assignment sheets, and test items are keyed to specific competencies, and a cross-reference table has been included to aid in identifying the parts of the curriculum that relate to specific competencies. Unit tests to evaluate specific competencies have also been provided. (MN)
