Exercise and Children's Health: A Little Counseling Can Pay Lasting Dividends.
Ganley, Theodore; Sherman, Carl
Physician and Sportsmedicine, v28 n2 p85-92 Feb 2000
Regular exercise is important for children's and adolescents' health maintenance, facilitating weight control, strengthening bones, and improving cardiovascular risk factors and mental health. Active childhoods help promote lifetime fitness. Physicians can assess children's weight and activity levels during routine exams. With simple recommendations, they can help children find and maintain activities they enjoy while minimizing the risk of injury. (SM)
