A Resource Issue: Employment and the Enhancement of Adolescent Well-Being.
Bene, Pamela J.; Southers, Chris L.
Journal of Home Economics, v85 n2 p23-29 Sum 1993
Adolescents are working more and longer, and more advantaged parents want their children to work. However, jobs available to youth are age segregated and declining in quality. Although student employment can develop self-discipline, responsibility, motivation, and other lifelong skills, its consequences include competing school, work, and family priorities; increased materialism; and pseudomaturity.
