Chekov, M.
Russian Education and Society, v46 n2 p67-71 Feb 2004
To be effective, social policy in the field of education has to be goal directed, systematic, specific, targeted, and well founded; it must be based on an analysis of concrete social information. This article deals with idea of the possibility of conducting professional training in institutions of supplementary education. Here, the author presents the findings of a sociological survey conducted. The findings showed that the overwhelming majority of parents are willing to send their children to institutions of supplementary education that will be able to help the adolescents master the basics of a future profession. Among other things, the survey also showed, students do wish to attend such institutions: the number of those who expressed the desire to do so was much larger than the number of those who are actually attending one.
