Factors Related to Family Therapists' Breaking Confidence When Clients Disclose High-Risks-to-HIV/AIDS Sexual Behaviors.
Pais, Shobha; Piercy, Fred; Miller, JoAnn
Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, v24 n4 p457-72 Oct 1998
Through a national survey of marriage and family therapists, this study examines what therapists do when their HIV-positive clients disclose that they are engaging in high-risk sexual behavior. Participants (N=309) were more likely to break confidence when their clients were male, young, gay, or African American. Describes characteristic of therapists who were more likely to disclose.
