Project CHOICE: #16. A Career Education Unit for Junior High School. An Introduction to the Career Center and an Introduction to Career Clusters.
Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Bakersfield, CA.
This junior high teaching unit introducing career clusters is one in a series of career guidebooks developed by Project CHOICE (Children Have Options in Career Education) to provide the classroom teacher with a source of career-related activities linking classroom experiences with the world of work. The unit follows a typical format that includes the rationale, goals, performance objectives, instructional strategy, evaluation, and suggested instructional materials (including books, films, and filmstrips). The remainder of the unit is comprised of instructional activities designed to introduce students to twelve career clusters and allow them to explore occupations which fit present interests and skills. The twelve clusters are agribusiness and natural resources, business and office, communications and media, construction, consumer and homemaking, environment, fine arts and humanities, health, hospitality and recreation, manufacturing, marine science, marketing and distribution, and personnel services. (For units on occupations within the clusters, see CE 025 738-765.) (LRA)
