This agricultural curriculum is designed to supplement and enrich the regular elementary curriculum. The program teaches important agricultural concepts through traditional subject areas. Twelve units are provided for each grade level K-6. Each unit is correlated to one or more instructional areas: art, career education, environmental education, health, mathematics, music, language arts, physical education, science, and social studies. Each unit also identifies an agricultural concept and a specific objective related to that concept. Four sets of agricultural concepts are addressed: origin, the sources of food and fiber; need, the necessity for a particular product; management, the operation of a farm; and marketing, the buying and selling of agricultural products. An introduction, a variety of learning activities, and a culminating activity (summary) offer learning experiences for students.
