Multiple Masculinity
Il'inykh, S. A.
Russian Education and Society, v54 n6 p15-31 Jun 2012
Data from a sociological study conducted in Novosibirsk show that in this Russian population the "real man" is expected to pursue victory, risk, struggle, leadership, and success. In addition, however, there is also a natural masculinity in which there is no rigid framework of the image of the "real man." Moreover, natural masculinity represents neither a crisis of masculinity nor an example of "failed" masculinity. (Contains 2 tables and 3 notes.) [This article was translated by Kim Braithwaite.]
