Children's Social Behaviors as Predictors of Academic Achievement: A Longitudinal Analysis.
Malecki, Christine Kerres; Elliott, Stephen N.
School Psychology Quarterly, v17 n1 p1-23 Spr 2002
Investigates relationships among a diverse sample of elementary students' social skills, problem behaviors, academic competence, and academic achievement. Results indicate that social skills are positively predictive of concurrent levels of academic achievement and problem behaviors are negatively predictive of concurrent academic achievement. Only social skills, however, emerged as a significant predictor of future academic functioning. (Contains 26 references and 8 tables.) (GCP)
