"Ebony Jr.!": The Rise and Demise of an African American Children's Magazine
Henderson, Laretta
Journal of Negro Education, v75 n4 p649 Fall 2006
"Ebony Jr.!" was a very popular periodical magazine that targeted an audience of African American children from five to eleven-years-old, as it combined all the elements of popular culture, African-American history and an elementary school curriculum for them. With the passage of time, it became a relatively irrelevant and bland magazine, leaving the African-American children deprived of an educational magazine that is targeted towards their growth or joy.
