LD Status and Achievement: Confounding Variables in the Study of Children's Social Status, Self-Esteem, and Behavioral Functioning.
La Greca, Annette M.; Stone, Wendy L.
Journal of Learning Disabilities, v23 n8 p483-90 Oct 1990
Compared to classmates with low and average reading achievement, 32 intermediate-grade students with learning disabilities (LD) had lower peer acceptance, lower feelings of self-worth, fewer positive nominations, and more negative self-perceptions regarding social acceptance. Different patterns of social and behavioral functioning distinguished LD boys and LD girls from their nondisabled peers. (Author/JDD)
