Papers presented at a roundtable session at the 1986 International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) conference consider current research in reading. They include: (1) "Bibliopsychology--The Contribution of a Study of Temperament" (R. O. Linden, Japan), which examines research on the impact of communication media on the fundamental strata of human nature; (2) "New Achievements in Reading Research in the People's Republic of China" (Guiyuan Peng, China), which summarizes trends in Chinese library development, including enhanced library functions, multi-series and multi-level services, the development of information processing, and increased resource sharing and network information transfer; and (3) "The Studies of the Youth's Reading in the Soviet Union" (V. D. Stelmakh, USSR), which considers current research in the reading habits of youth, presents data on studies conducted in the USSR, and discusses some problems and prospects for future research.
