Noting that family members are a child's first teachers and set the course for future success, this activity book of "literacy learning parties" presents 10 activities that can be used at home to practice the skills and ideas learned at parent literacy workshops. Presented in English and Spanish versions, the activity book discusses the importance of spoken language in literacy development, emphasizes the development of literacy skills, and contains activity directions. Each illustrated activity begins with a purpose section that explains the educational concept for the activity, followed by a list of materials and directions, and steps to complete the activity. Each activity also includes some extensions and variations as the childs skills and interest develop. Also included in the book are four songs and chants for preschool children.
