Vygotsky on Imagination: Why an Understanding of the Imagination Is an Important Issue for Schoolteachers
Gajdamaschko, Natalia
Teaching Education, v16 n1 p13-22 Mar 2005
Lev Vygotsky was an educational theorist and psychologist of extraordinarily wide knowledge whose major writings deal with the entire learning-teaching-development enterprise. Despite wide-ranging interests towards Vygotskian theory, the issue of imagination remains outside of the main line of the general inquiries. Thus there is a gap in that list of "Vygotskiana" topics that are studied in North America: Vygotsky's writings about the imagination and its development have only recently became a topic of the discussion. This article attempts to fill the gap.
