Imparting practical legal knowledge and skills to social workers is a growing concern for social work educators. The rigorous social work curriculum, especially at the graduate level, leaves little room for basic legal research instruction to be included. This article documents some of the difficulties associated with legal research in an academic library and offers librarians and social work students some guidance in using secondary tools for locating and analyzing statutes and case law.
