Student Activities to Accompany the People on Market Street Film Series--A Series of Seven Economics Films Distributed by the Walt Disney Educational Media Company.
Watts, Michael, Ed.
Designed to help students in grades 9-12 understand economic terms, fundamental economic principles of the free enterprise system, and economic forces that influence activities in everyone's life, this teacher's guide provides over 50 reproducible activity sheets on the following topics: (1) scarcity and planning, (2) cost, (3) demand, (4) supply, (5) market clearing price, (6) wages and production, and (7) property rights and pollution. Although the materials were intended for use with a 7-part film series, they can be used independently to supplement any unit on economics. Each activity sheet provides a detailed synopsis of a problem requiring students to analyze information critically; compare data; provide answers to short answer and essay questions; and complete graphs, charts, and puzzle activities. A chart providing a brief description of each activity sheet and suggested grade level information precedes the activity sheets. The second part of the guide consists of teachers' copies of the activity sheets, complete with answers. (LH)
