How the Ability to Manage Change Affects Leadership Style
Pujol, Kelley
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This study addressed how the ability to manage change affects leadership style. The problem addressed in this project was the natural human tendency to resist change and how the inability to mange this tendency can interfere with the development of leadership skills. The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate how an individual's change management skills affect the style of leadership he or she develops. The participants in this study were adult students enrolled in an adult degree completion program in a Middle Tennessee community college. The results indicated that two leadership styles, Idealized Behaviors and Laissez-Faire, were affected by completion of the intervention while a notable though not significant change was seen in the Contingent Reward style.
