A Study of the Relationship Between the Leader Behavior of Secondary School Principals and Biology Teachers' Attitudes Toward BSCS Biology.
Lee, Wilford Franklin
Biology teachers whose principal scored above the mean of the population (forty secondary schools in Oklahoma) on both the "consideration" and "initiating structure" dimensions of the "Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire" scored significantly higher on the "Biology Teacher Attitude Inventory" than those whose Principals were below the mean on both dimensions. The Attitude Inventory was designed to measure attitudes toward BSCS biology. No significant differences between teacher attitudes were found when the teachers were categorized according to school size, sex, age, educational level, teaching experience (total, within the school, and with the same principal). Similarly, no significant difference between principal types was found when demographic data were examined. (Author/AL)
