Thin-Layer Chromatography: The "Eyes" of the Organic Chemist
Dickson, Hamilton; Kittredge, Kevin W.; Sarquis, Arlyne
Journal of Chemical Education, v81 n7 p1023 Jul 2004
Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) methods are successfully used in many areas of research and development such as clinical medicine, forensic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical analysis as TLC is relatively inexpensive and has found widespread application as an easy to use, reliable, and quick analytic tool. The usefulness of TLC in organic laboratory is explored by means of an experiment demonstrating simple aspects of chemistry (hydrogen bonding and polarity) and application of TLC.
