From Isolation to Mainstream: Problems of the Colleges Founded for Negroes.

This report is an analysis of the special problems of colleges founded to offer blacks access to higher education when segregation was the law of the land. These colleges today are in a new awkward situation where they must compete with other colleges while still carrying burdens arising from the legacy of discrimination and poverty. The commission recommends expanding and enriching educational programs at these colleges and greatly increasing State and Federal aid for them. (MJM)
