Students Pave the Way for Greater Accessibility
Hollingsworth, Jan Carter
Exceptional Parent, v37 n5 p21-23 May 2007
This article reports how the engineering students at the University of South Florida (USP) presented their latest inventions last April 17 and 19. As part of a senior level class in the rehabilitation engineering and technology program, these students were challenged to design assistive devices that will aid those with disabilities to better access their world. Practical mobility devices are popular among student inventors because the demand for such products is so great. The activity has provided students with an opportunity to hone their ingenuity and innovation, which bodes well for the future as these students embark on their careers.
