Mission to Earth: Landsat Views the World.
Short, Nicholas M.; And Others
Presented is a compendium of the outstanding Landsat scenes of the Earth's surface. It is directed to college and high school teachers, resource specialists, researchers, outdoorsmen, travelers, the general public, and serious students of geology or geography. The images are presented in color and at a scale and resolution that specify many natural and cultural features with enough clarity to be recognized. The pictures are preceded by a comprehensive introduction explaining the satellite and its data-gathering systems. The accomplishments and applications of Landsat are also reviewed. Each picture is described by its caption which discusses the well-known geographic points of interest, the urban and cultural features, the major agricultural or industrial activities of the area, and the natural vegetation. The geology has been given considerable attention. The scenes represent the entire global land surface. The book is intended to be used with "Educators Guide for Mission to Earth: Landsat Views the World."
