Water Pollution, A Scientists' Institute for Public Information Workbook.
Berg, George G.
Analyzed are the reasons why present mechanisms for the control of water purity are inadequate. The control of waterborne epidemics is discussed to illustrate a problem which has been solved, then degradation of the environment is presented as an unsolved problem. Case histories are given of pollution and attempts at control in rivers, lakes, ground waters, estuaries and oceans. Suggestions are made for management of water resources. The importance of providing the public with adequate information is emphasized. A short bibliography is included. (EB)
