Community and junior colleges are in a prime position to spearhead much-needed continuing education courses for the retraining of medical laboratory technicians in outlying areas and small towns. Programs currently underway combine short courses, bench refreshers, and self-instructional materials; similar programs are planned by a number of institutions. (JG)
