Basic Media in Education.
Harrell, John
Intended as a guide to the use of different media for use in the classroom, this document demonstrates alternative approaches that may be taken to depicting and communicating images and concepts to others. Some basic tools and materials--including a ruler, matte knife, rubber cement, stapler, felt-tip pens, paint brushes, and lettering pens--are required to do the projects described. Among the media techniques presented are: (1) flat pictures; (2) tackboard; (3) posters; (4) diagrams, charts, and graphs; (5) lettering; (6) flannelboard; (7) handmade projections using overhead, opaque, and slide projectors; and (8) spatial displays such as mobiles and dioramas. Examples of each technique's application are provided. (DGC)
