This handbook briefly describes an Alabama teacher workshop designed to provide teachers with tools for a law-related instructional program. Following an introduction, a course outline and agenda are provided for those interested in developing similar workshops in other states. Objectives of the workshop were to (1) promote community and school educational programs that focus on the state's justice system, (2) study aspects of the criminal justice system that directly relate to lessons for classroom use, (3) examine a wide range of instructional modes and curriculum materials available for teaching law-related education, (4) offer the opportunity to participate in field experiences involving the actual operation of the courts, (5) learn how to use law personnel such as judges, lawyers, and other court officials as classroom resource persons, and (6) help in the planning and development of future courses of study in law-related topics for local schools.
