This Historical Reader on "Japanese American Internment" in World War II introduces students to key events and issues during the period through the voices of people with firsthand experienced. Source documents and illustrations are arranged in chronological order and/or thematic units that establish context. Each selection is followed by critical thinking questions that can be used by the teacher as discussion starters or for short-essay assignments. Documents and illustrations in the reader are grouped under the following five parts: (1) "Pearl Harbor and Anti-Japanese Bias"; (2) "Evacuation and Internment"; (3) "Life in the Camps"; (4) "Fighting in the Courts and on the Battlefields"; and (5) "Remembrance and Redress."
