With respect to automatic indexing and information retrieval, statistical analysis of word usages in written texts is finding broad application in the solution of a number of problems. One of these problems is compiling a thesaurus on a digital computer. Using two methods, a comparative experiment in automatic thesaurus construction is presented. (Author)
