The Concept Attainment Strategy: Inductive Lessons on Arachnids and Isomers
Reid, Barbara
Science Teacher, v78 n1 p51-55 Jan 2011
The concept attainment lesson, recommended by Joyce, Weil, and Calhoun (2004), is designed to give students practice in analyzing data and developing critical-thinking skills--without a complicated lab setup. The inductive lesson structure leads students step by step to an in-depth understanding of a new idea and scaffolds their thinking as they piece together essential attributes of the target concept.
