Children can become script masters if they have a teacher/director who follows certain procedures, such as: (1) select a script that has relevancy to the cast; (2) audition the children via an interview process prior to reading the script for the first time; (3) cast the children based on appearance, sound of the voice, and personality more than the quality of the first reading; (4) read through the entire script with the cast at the first rehearsal, (5) set goals related to the main and ultimate purposes of performance during the early rehearsals; (6) analyze the script in a discussion format and encourage cast input; (7) maintain an open communication throughout rehearsals on character interpretation and the enactment of scenes; (8) reinforce the goals; and (9) schedule a private performance prior to a public performance.
