Affirmative Action Plan.
Triton Coll., River Grove, IL.
In order to develop an affirmative action plan at Triton College, the college President appointed a committee made up of nine representatives from the various college constituencies, the majority of which were women and minorities, to determine the objectives to be achieved and how to implement them, and to establish appropriate review procedures. The committee's principal task was to examine steps currently underway and those to be initiated to guarantee equal employment opportunities (EEO) for minorities, women, and handicapped persons. To that end, a review of Personnel Department policies, practices, and procedures and a work force analysis were undertaken. The first activity involved investigating the employee selection process, the upward mobility system, and the employee evaluation system. Key areas needing improvement were identified. The work force analysis determined the number and percentage of personnel employed in 1976-77 in each department by race, EEO category, sex, and job title; employees were placed in appropriate groupings for comparison of internal utilization with external availability to establish goals towards which the affirmative action plan should direct itself. Suggestions for improving the areas where progress was limited are made. The work force analysis is presented in a series of charts. (TR)
