Data on fall 1978 enrollment in higher education in Montana are summarized and compared with the previous year. Institutions in the Montana state university system, private colleges, and community colleges are included, as are graduate students. Enrollments in noncredit courses are not included in the tables, but are footnoted. Analyses include: distribution by class, institution type, and institution; distribution by campus within the state university system since 1973-74; distribution by sex; inmigration of transfer students; net effect of transfers in and out of each institution; distribution by in- and out-of-state residence; first-time freshmen, both in-state and out-of-state; part- and full-time enrollment by institution; and full-time equivalent enrollment (some comparison is made here with the years since 1972-73).
