Technology-Rich Schools Up Close
Levin, Barbara B.; Schrum, Lynne
Educational Leadership, v70 n6 p51-55 Mar 2013
This article observes that schools that use technology well have key commonalities, including a project-based curriculum and supportive, distributed leadership. The authors' research into tech-rich schools revealed that schools used three strategies to integrate technology successfully. They did so by establishing the vision and culture, bringing technology into assessment, and establishing partnerships. The article presents the key commonalities in terms of eight keys to technology integration. Noting that these practices are crucial for successfully integrating technology, the article focuses on two of those keys: reliance on project-based learning and distributed school leadership that is 100 percent behind the infusion of technology.
