The Health of Women at Work. A Bibliography. Occasional Papers No. 2.
Hunt, Vilma R.
Both English and foreign language articles and books, most of them published since 1950, are cited in this bibliography on the health of women in the workplace. Citations were selected to represent the efforts that have been made by health professionals, statisticians, historians, and social scientists in this area. The designation "at work" encompasses all work settings, including the home, but there are few references to the latter. The bibliography is divided into seventeen chapters, each of which has a brief author preface which notes issues and themes on the topic or refers the reader to related topics. Topics include history of working women; accidents; cardiovascular system; dermatitis and allergies; infectious diseases; effects of noise; radiation: ionizing and non-ionizing; reproductive systems (including pregnancy); respiratory systems; stress, disability, efficiency and absenteeism; effects of toxic substances; general studies of women; general epidemiological studies; occupational health services; United States government documents; International Labor Office documents; and documents for occupations not elsewhere classified in the bibliography. Each chapter is divided into English and foreign language studies. The bibliography does not cover mental health. (BB)
