Kidwai, Sabrina
Techniques: Connecting Education and Careers (J3), v83 n5 p44 May 2008
More than 100 students and teachers from Missouri Career and Technical Student Organizations gathered at the State Capitol Building in Jefferson City, Missouri, to participate in the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education's (MACTE) Annual Legislative Day on February 13. During the morning session, participants listened to state Rep. David Pierce provide an overview of the structure and proceedings of the state legislature, giving details about his duties and daily routine as a state representative. As an alumnus of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), Pierce discussed the importance of Career and Technical Education, stating that the public speaking and teamwork skills he learned as an FFA member in high school are skills he uses today as a state legislator.
