This module is the sixth of nine modules in the competency-based Missouri Auto Mechanics Curriculum Guide. Eight units cover: introduction to automotive brake systems; disc and drum brake system components and how they operate; properties of brake fluid and procedures for bleeding the brake system; diagnosing and determining needed repairs on automotive brake systems; repairing, replacing, and adjusting hydraulic system components; repairing, replacing, and adjusting disc brake components; drum brake service and repair; and diagnosing and repairing power assisted and antilock brake systems. Introductory materials include a competency profile and cross-reference table that shows how competencies relate to instructional objectives, job sheets, assignment sheets, and test items. Each unit consists of some or all of these components: objective sheet with unit and specific objectives; cover sheet with content outline and list of references; information sheets; assignment sheets; job sheets; and unit test with answer key.
