This document, a report of a seminar arranged by the Royal Belgian Society of Engineers and Industrialists, contains 35 papers illustrating the application of modern mathematics in engineering. There are eleven sections: Statistics, Operational Research, Boolean Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Eigenvalues, variations, Integral Equations and Applications of Mathematics to Hydraulics. Each section contains a paper by a specialist, generally a university professor working at the frontiers of knowledge in his field, followed by one or more examples of concrete application presented by users in industry or applied research.
