What We Know about Upward Appraisals of Management: Facilitating the Future Use of UPAs [and] Invited Reaction: Reaction to Hall, Leidecker, and DiMarco.
Hall, James L.; And Others
Human Resource Development Quarterly, v7 n3 p209-32 Fall 1996
Hall, Leidecker, and DiMarco write that upward performance appraisals are supposed to improve communication and increase worker satisfaction. Concerns are related to subordinate qualifications and bias, lack of time, and acceptance of results. Three types are subordinate oriented, cross-hierarchical, and self-inclusive. Stoner's reaction argues that Hall et al. do not define terms or suggest a new taxonomy. (SK)
