Classroom Instruction and Learning Environment Differences between Effective and Ineffective Urban Elementary Schools for African American Students.
Waxman, Hersholt C.; Huang, Shwu-Yong L.
Urban Education, v32 n1 p7-44 Mar 1997
Investigates whether significant differences exist between effective and ineffective urban schools based on students' classroom behavior and students' motivation and perceptions of their classroom learning environment. Comparisons between eight urban elementary schools serving predominantly African American students are presented that show significant differences in both classroom behavior and student motivation.
