Neiberger-Miller, Ami
National 4-H Council
This is the third in a series of five horse project activity guides for youth. Levels 1-3 focus on "horse-less" activities, while Levels 4 and 5 zero in on riding and horsemanship. Each guide has an achievement program to encourage youth to learn and develop life skills. The assistance of a horse project helper in completing the achievement programs is very important. Keeping horses healthy and teaching basic care to youth are the heart of this activity guide. Youth will find interesting and exciting activities in this guide. They will learn about horse reproduction, illnesses, health care, shelter, finances and much more. This guide contains the following chapters: (1) Reproduction; (2) Health; (3) Housing; and (4) Management. Glossary and resources are included. [For related guides, see ED540778, ED540780, ED540782, and ED540779.]
