Notions of HIV and Medication among Multiethnic People Living with HIV.
Oggins, Jean
Health & Social Work, v28 n1 p53-62 Feb 2003
Examines why people of ethnic minority groups tend to be less likely to take medication for HIV. Respondents viewed HIV/AIDS and medication in terms of other illnesses and drugs, including colds, cancer, and street drugs. Some also thought antiretroviral medications were toxic. Others thought they should wait to take medication to prevent opportunistic infection until they felt ill. (Contains 35 references and 2 tables.) (GCP)
