Energy from the Atom.
Smith, Patricia L.
This curriculum guide was written to supplement fifth and sixth grade science units on matter and energy. It was designed to provide more in-depth material on the atom. The first part, "Teacher Guide," contains background information, biographical sketches of persons in the history of nuclear energy, vocabulary, answer sheets, management sheets for activity cards, and a test answer key. The second part contains 12 prepared lessons on various aspects of nuclear energy with reproducible worksheet and overhead transparency masters. The third part consists of 15 activity cards for independent or group assignments. Each activity card contains materials and instructions for the completion of the task. The fourth part contains supplementary materials such as additional transparency masters and patterns for cards and games. The last section lists science textbooks and their corelation to this program, names and addresses of sources of additional classroom materials, and a listing of books on nuclear energy for use by teachers and students as resource materials.
