This guide provides materials for the first high school "Introduction to Industrial Technology Education" and "Exploration of Industrial Technology Education" Guides. It consists of three sections in addition to beginning remarks. Section I is the Instructor's Guide, which contains 12 major instructional units: overview; signs, symbols, and technical drawing; printing systems; photographic systems; telecommunication--hardwired systems; telecommunication--electromagnetic systems; storage and retrieval systems; telecommunication--audio/visual systems; careers; technological procedures; leadership; and future trends. Each unit consists of a unit title, set of competencies, content outline, teacher plans and activities, suggested student activities, and resources and references. Section II contains 17 Technology Activity Modules, a set of representative activities that may be used to address each major unit's goals. Each module contains instructor suggestions and student instructions. Section III, the resource section, contains a detailed list of resources, including curriculum guides, textbooks, and references; a sample set of useful periodicals, publisher, media sources, resource centers, and suppliers; and a directory for locating public domain software. Appendices include an illustration of the parts of a communication system, a comparison of printing processes, a discussion of photographic film, a diagram of a telephone circuit, interviewing tips with sample questions, a resume checklist, a paper titled "Telecommunications and Telecomputing" (Costello), and a concept outline of communication technology.
