This annotated bibliography is intended to provide instructors and trainers with a variety of materials that may be used to design or supplement a self-employment/small business management training program. The materials listed include lesson plans, handbooks, workbooks, textbooks, tests, test keys, instruction guides, videocassettes, pamphlets, brochures, computer programs, and microfiche. Resources are grouped according to topic. Chapter I includes general informational materials with which the instructor can assist and challenge students to consider the larger view of starting and operating a a business. Chapter II provides resources concerning regulating and legal issues for both instructor and student. Financial and economic issues are covered in Chapter III. Chapter IV lists resources containing case studies of individuals who have succeeded in business and those who have failed--and why. Chapter V provides tips and training techniques to improve small business marketing for start-ups and established operations. Resources in Chapter VI discuss general planning for the training program and its business owners. Chapter VII lists several American Management Associations offerings with specific information on curriculum development. Chapter VIII includes materials that may be particularly helpful in training/teaching entrepreneurs. Chapter IX lists miscellaneous resources of interest to the teacher or entrepreneur. (YLB)
