Mathematical Creative Activity and the Graphic Calculator
Duda, Janina
International Journal for Technology in Mathematics Education, v18 n1 p3-14 2011
Teaching mathematics using graphic calculators has been an issue of didactic discussions for years. Finding ways in which graphic calculators can enrich the development process of creative activity in mathematically gifted students between the ages of 16-17 is the focus of this article. Research was conducted using graphic calculators with mathematically gifted students working individually. The organisation of the research was based on problem based teaching and "the method of creative problems". The results indicate that using the graphic calculator can lead mathematically gifted students to varying levels of creative activity, widen and enrich educational content and accelerate the studying process. A fragment of the research follows. (Contains 12 figures.)
