Government Documents Go to School
Williams, Sandra Q.
Teacher Librarian, v32 n5 p8 Jun 2005
In the fall of 2002, the author conducted brief surveys of the teacher and teacher-librarians in her graduate cataloging class and in a colleage's media selection class to learn whether and how government documents are used in the schools where these students were employed. The schools included in the surveys were in several central Minnesota communities and also districts in the Minneapolis/St. Paul suburbs. The author found that many individuals are not familiar with using government documents. In this article, the author mentions several printed government publications that could be very useful in the school library. The author also provides several addresses for Web sites sponsored by government agencies and developed for children.
