Two-Year College Alumni: An Untapped Resource. Resource Book.
Junior and Community Coll. Inst., Washington, DC.
This resource book provides a variety of materials that were presented at a national workshop on the development, organization, and activities of two-year college alumni associations. The first section, which looks at the organization of alumni programs, presents information related to Clinton Community College's (Ohio) Alumni Association, including articles of incorporation; by-laws; an organizational chart; 1985-86 goals and objectives; a membership form; a computer-generated record-keeping form; an activity planning guide; and a flier entitled "You Can Get Involved." The second section provides materials on gaining board and volunteer support, including Richard J. Pokrass's "Recruitment, Training and Motivating Volunteers for Alumni Associations and Other Non-Profit Organizations," and Eileen Farley's "Motivating Volunteers for the Community College." The third section offers a number of outlines, forms and charts related to fund raising, including information on annual funds and scholarship programs; examples of a gift acknowledgement card, an annual fund drive envelope, and donor record cards; a planned giving outline; lists of instruments of planned giving, donor assets, and donor objectives for estate planning; descriptions of hypothetical and existing planned giving programs; fliers on the benefits of giving donations to Northern Virginia Community College and its educational foundation; and a planned gift prospect record card. The fourth section provides information on alumni activities and special events, listing examples of college-, student-, and alumni-centered events. Final attachments include the workshop's opening address, "Two-Year College Alumni Programs into the 1990's," by Jennifer Kerns; and materials regarding board and volunteer support, and fund raising.
